Drainer

As a child I was afraid of sleeping with the closet door open. The closet door absolutely had to be closed in order for me to sleep, an irrational dread that persisted into adulthood. And then, at the end of a visit to that house, I noticed that the closet had been open for days and untroubled nights. Once this happened, I could never be scared of the closet again, even if I wanted to—an irreparable loss of fear.

‘Drainer’ is a pen-on-paper animation that uses humor, emptiness, and surprise to introduce a myth about why mystery disappears.
